The Study on Health States of Low Income Family for the Project of Community Home Visiting Health Center

Abstract

|
The study is aimed to investigate health status of the poor and the near poor, the target population in the project of Jeonju community home visiting health center, bring health problems in the community to ongoing issues, and provide the basic data to meet home visiting health project reflecting the demand of the community. There were 996 participants in the study and a structured questionnaire was used. The main results of the study are as follows:
56.4% of the participants had the condition with early hypertension, and the body mass indices(BMI) in average was 22.62±3.64. For perceived health status, 13.6% of the male participants appealed "not healthy" while 32.8% of the female participants did the condition.
Respectively, 10.9% of the male and 9.3% of the female participants drank alcohol. Regarding smoking, respectively, 13.8% of the male and 7.4% of the female participants were smoking.
51% of the participants were currently joining exercise. 7.7% of the male and 23.3% of the female participants had irregular dietary behavior. The most common disease of the participants(51.6%) was joint pain(arthritis) in musculoskeletal disease.
Based on the results, the center should efficiently manages project of home visiting health program for the low income family in the community. Thus, the center can early detect, prevent, and manage chronic diseases, improving the quality of life in the community.
